Fly on Line 03:48
Fly on Line Find me where the moon would fall The loon surrounds its traces Bind the mare that comes to all Through rooms in nightly races Fish for me with fly on line Hang the catch make up the nine – please do Find me where a bleed would make A river run to stumble Mind me there I need to shake A shiver to cold to humble Fish for me with fly on line Hang the catch make up the nine –will you Find me where my walk is song On streets that moan to harbour Kindly share the talk that’s wrong In sheets too prone to harm her Fish for me with fly on line Hang the catch make up the nine –won’t you Find me autumn blow this frame With leaves that match my manner Blindly snow on those the same Who’ve never felt the latter Fish for me with fly on line Throw me back its not my time – at all

Of Course It Was Later… Hey you! Hey you!! You just bumped into me! Hey you! Hey you!! That was an act of hostility So saying, I grabbed his neck and twisted it with glee Of course it was later when I thought what should’ve been done Hey you! Hey you!! Who the hell do you think you are? Hey you! Hey you!! How have you survived this far? So saying I jammed his teeth into the grill of a passing car Of course it was later when I thought what should’ve been done These sort of people give me the rage But it’s kept in nice and tight in my stifling British cage One more nudge, I’ll pick the lock, take up arms, engage And show them what will happen if they go just an inch too far Hey you! Hey you!! From where does this recalcitrance stem Hey you! Hey you!! Brought up like a dose of bronchial phlegm So saying, I cut him deep with a Wildeism, a gem Of course it was later when I thought what should’ve been done

Closer 04:37
Closer So hi to your lovers Hi to the crowds that watched you As we waved to the fleets arrive We waited for their waves to wash you Ah Closer, I want you to hold me closer I’m someone that you’ve chosen And you double my strength when I’m failing When we walked on the pier We were the biggest part of outside Both sharing one ceiling With the darker one not far behind So take me, take me to somewhere open And fall with me somewhere frozen Whilst laughing that we should have stayed at home Why do we need to stay home There’s far more romance when we roam Where it’s too cold for tears to leak You belonged to the garden Of the first summer that I inhaled As this was thought it disappeared The same sun that was so well behaved Tell me in hymns or hobbies tell me If in life and love we shall be Always a step away from too low I’ll never say your name too low It will be sung until I go So long it will remain Closer I want you to hold me closer

Don’t Peek In Don’t peek in or look for it there You’ll never locate it, you’ll pull out your hair Are you sure you know what you’re after Drink from the bottle that’s labelled guffaw Drink from it heavily and laugh till we fall Are you sure know what you’re after Say yes to me and my heart you will capture I know you’re a smiler with the words on your lips I know you’re a dancer with the beat on your hips Are you sure you know what you’re after D’you that know that I love you more than that of my health But there are other people that deserve a little burst of my wealth Are you sure you know what you’re after Say yes to me and my heart you will capture So for now be quiet as a noise annoys Just write down the words from the pen that was poised Are you sure you know what you’re after There may come a time when laughter’s too loud But the one from your throat is too rich and too proud Are you sure you know what you’re after Say yes to me and my heart you will capture

Woman of grace Up and down on these shallow shoulders Push the world on this timid frame But meeting you has stopped me reeling So with me could you remain? The rain fell with a smatter of diamonds Crushed in the clouds that brood up high From this shower you navigated A place to my arms where you now lie So what person are you And where did you come from Were you told there was some purpose? To come down from so high Woman of grace, woman of mine Where we embrace the rays hug us gently And fragile thunder moves to let in light So as to an empty canvas You added some colour and breathed in life A world is formed by a sharing of such souls And so as creeping ivy it must spread A flower to symbolise all that’s decent Wither in bloom but not dying from dead So what good are threads as these? If you never take me out For if with you I’m never seen I absolutely have no style Woman of grace, woman of mine

A Tide of Souls So now it’s come, the tale we both expected So now we’ve run and all our fails connected I loved it when you walked I so loved it when we walked But the ground it moved as though we were on thunder Our problems soothed in the flames that burnt their plunder I loved it where you ran I so loved it when we ran There’s a tide of souls with a buoyancy that grips them Their coasts are carved by the waves that gnaw and nip them You must have borrowed the teeth of saints My lips the canvas, your tongue that paints And so we swam in to a host of dangers But every gram of malevolence forgave us I loved it when we fell As each trip made us tall as hell There’s a tide of souls with a buoyancy that grips them Their coasts are carved by the waves that gnaw and nip them You must have borrowed the teeth of saints My lips the canvas, your tongue that paints So we’re been found to obey the twist of flavours We could have drowned without your heavenly neighbours No gleaming harp is left for me But at your feet there is a symphony There’s a tide of souls with a buoyancy that grips them Their coasts are carved by the waves that gnaw and nip them You must have borrowed the teeth of saints My lips the canvas, your tongue that paints

about

The songs on this album are of a stripped back nature, as you will hear. Mostly acoustic guitars and vocals pervade the tracks. There may be some other instruments dotted hither and thither, so see if you can spot them. Anyway, if you can't, I'm going to give the game away by telling you what they are in the credits. A lot of these songs are from quite a number of years ago indeed. If I said I was still in my 20s when they were written, that should give you some idea, what? It was great to finally record, and now, release them. The songs were recorded live in one day at the fabulous studio of WR Audio in Manchester, but to finish them took quite a number of weeks, as I find is the norm. There were quite a number of songs that were left out - the initial number of songs was to be 14 - due to one reason or another. These I still have, and might release them as bonus tracks on the EP, which I shall upload soon. Some of the lyrics on 'Last Gasp' have the chords, too. But, try as I might, the little blighters wouldn't stay above the right words. If you want to play along, I'm sure you can figure out where they go. I mean, they're all there. Thank you.
